Lipomodelling or Lipofilling is a cosmetic procedure that removes the fat (liposuction) from one area of the body and it is transferred to another. It can be used after breast reconstruction or sometimes before it to improve the look and feel of the breast. Lipomodelling may also be called lipofilling or autologous fat grafting.
Fat is taken from the buttocks, thighs stomach, and sometimes the hips and it is then prepared for re-injection into the breasts. The procedure is done in two stages, fat harvesting (liposuction), then after the fat has been separated from fluids and blood, it is injected into the breasts to shape and fill them out.
There is minimal marking from the fine needles used for liposuction and re-injection. There is no visible scarring. The contouring with the fat adds a very natural contour to the breast and is much more subtle than silicone implants. Another benefit of the procedure is that where the fat is removed, it has a slimming effect on those areas.
Generally, this procedure is best suited for an increase in cup size and does not involve any surgery.
In transmen, this procedure can be used after a mastectomy to improve the chest contours and shape where there are dimples or irregularities in shape.
